Delete Your Account & Data
This page explains how to delete your Polora account and the personal data associated with it, what is removed, what is kept and why, and how long the process takes. It applies to the Polora web app and the Polora apps on the App Store and Google Play.
1. How to request deletion
If you can sign in (recommended)
- Open Polora (web or app) and sign in.
- Go to Settings → Account.
- Select Delete account.
- Confirm by entering your password, or by typing DELETE if you signed up with Google or Apple. Deletion starts immediately.
If you cannot sign in
Email privacy@polora.ai from the address associated with your account and ask us to delete it. We will verify ownership of the account and complete the deletion on your behalf.
2. What is removed immediately
The moment you confirm deletion, your account is deactivated and signed out on every device, and the following are erased or anonymized right away:
- Your email address and name.
- Your password (sign-in is permanently disabled).
- Your Google Drive connection and tokens (no further access to your Drive is possible).
- Any AI provider API keys you stored with us.
- Your saved preferences and settings.
- Marketing attribution data (how you first found Polora).
We send a confirmation email to your original address before it is scrubbed.
3. When the rest is permanently deleted
After a 30-day recovery window, your account record and the data tied to it, including your conversations and usage history, are permanently and irreversibly deleted.
The 30-day window exists only so that an accidental or unauthorized deletion can be reversed by contacting us during that period. After it elapses, recovery is no longer possible.
4. What we keep, and why
After deletion, the only things that remain are:
- A one-way hash derived from your email address. This contains no readable personal information and cannot be reversed back into your email. We keep it solely to prevent repeated abuse of one-time signup rewards (for example, deleting and re-creating an account to claim a welcome bonus again).
- Debates you chose to make public. If you published a debate with a public share link, it stays visible with your name replaced by an anonymous label. To remove a public debate entirely, turn its sharing off before you delete your account.
- Limited records we are legally required to retain (for example, tax or transaction records), kept only for the minimum period the law requires and then deleted.
5. Want a copy of your data first?
Before deleting, you can export your personal data: go to Settings → Account → Export my data. We email you a machine-readable copy. Once your account is deleted, exporting is no longer possible.
