Terms of Service
1. Definitions
In these Terms of Service ("Terms"), the following definitions apply:
- "Service" refers to the Polora platform, including all web applications, APIs, mobile apps and features the Company provides under the Polora name or through a Polora account.
- "Company," "we," "us," "our" refers to Polora, the operator of the Service.
- "User," "you," "your" refers to any individual or entity that accesses or uses the Service.
- "Credits" refers to the virtual currency used within the Service (1 credit = $0.001 USD).
- "AI Providers" refers to third-party companies whose AI models are accessible through the Service, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google (Gemini), xAI (Grok), Mistral, DeepSeek, Moonshot AI (Kimi).
- "User Content" refers to any text, files, documents, or other materials submitted by users to the Service.
- "AI-Generated Content" refers to any output produced by AI models through the Service.
- "Personal API Key" refers to a user's own AI provider API key registered with the Service for direct usage.
2. Service Description
Polora provides the following services :
- AI Personas and Uju. You can create an AI persona by teaching it what you know. Text, documents, images and audio you provide are distilled into the persona's memories, and the text you provide is also kept in your account as a teaching record that only you can read. A persona can talk with you one to one, join your group chats, and be published as a reviewed public edition that other people can discover in Uju, the persona universe, and use. Uju also shows synthetic personas drawn from licensed public datasets (Section 6.2).
- Chats with AI. One-to-one chats with a single AI model, and group chats in which several AI models (and your personas) answer the same question from different perspectives, one after another or at the same time, with an optional researcher and moderator.
- Apps. Tools provided by Polora in its app hub or as separate mobile apps that use your Polora account. Each app describes its features where you use it, and our Privacy Policy lists the providers it uses and whether your persona may learn from it.
- Polora's magazines and their newsletters. Polora Picks and Polora Prism : articles, cards and short films that the Company's editors prepare with the help of AI, and each magazine's weekly e-mail for people who subscribed to it. Polora Prism is about investing and finance (Section 5).
- Shared conversations. Public sharing of a conversation through a unique link.
- Organizations. A shared workspace in which an administrator manages members, API keys and a shared credit pool (Section 3).
- Referral Program. Credit rewards for inviting new users (Section 13).
Live chats stream over a WebSocket connection so responses appear as they are written. Other features, such as teaching or publishing a persona, use ordinary requests.
3. Eligibility and Account Registration
- You must be at least 14 years old to use this Service. Where the law of your country sets a higher minimum age of digital consent (for example, up to 16 in certain European countries), you may use the Service only if you meet it. We ask for your birth year and month once to apply this rule. By registering, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. Messages between people (Section 6.3) include a protection for people under 18.
- Sanctions and export compliance. You may not use the Service if you are located in, ordinarily resident in, or a national of any country or territory subject to comprehensive U.S. government sanctions or embargoes, or if you are identified on any U.S. government restricted-party or denied-persons list. By using the Service you represent and warrant that you are not subject to any such restriction and that you will not use the Service in violation of applicable export-control or sanctions laws.
- You must provide accurate and complete information during registration. You may register using email and password, Google, or Apple.
- Each user may maintain only one account. Creating multiple accounts is prohibited.
- Email verification is required to activate your account and access certain features.
- You are solely responsible for the security of your account credentials. Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access.
- If you join an organization, its administrators can see your name, e-mail, role, the date you joined, and your usage and cost within that organization, including the model and feature of each charge, and the organization's audit log records actions taken in it. Leaving the organization ends that visibility for new activity.
- You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Your account is anonymized at once and the rest is deleted within 31 days, except what the Privacy Policy lists as remaining (Section 8 there).
4. Credits and Payments
4.1 Credit System
- The Service offers two ways to pay : credits used on Polora's provider keys, or a monthly subscription that lets you use your own provider keys.
- 1 credit = $0.001 USD (1,000 credits = $1.00).
- Credits are consumed in proportion to the AI usage each call actually generates (input and output), at each model's published rate, plus a per-search charge when the AI searches the web. An estimate is shown before you start; the exact amount appears on each conversation reply and in your usage history.
- Credit deductions are processed in real-time and visible in your usage history.
- Credits expire twelve months after the date of your most recent credit purchase or grant. When your balance includes credits you bought, we notify you by email 30 days and 7 days before expiry ; reminders about credits that were only given to you are sent if you agreed to receive news and offers. Free monthly credits refilled to accounts below the free threshold do not extend the expiry date.
4.2 Credit Packages
- Lite: $10 for 10,100 credits (1% bonus)
- Standard: $20 for 22,000 credits (10% bonus)
- Pro: $50 for 60,000 credits (20% bonus)
Purchased credits follow the twelve-month validity described in 4.1.
4.3 Personal API Keys
- Users may register their own AI provider API keys for direct usage.
- Personal API keys require an active subscription. Calls made with your personal API keys are billed to you by the provider and do not consume credits.
- The Company is not responsible for charges incurred on your personal API key account.
4.4 Payment Processing
- All payments are processed securely through Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor.
- The Company does not store your full card number or security code. If you turn on automatic top-up, we keep the card's brand and its last four digits.
4.5 Refund Policy
- Unused credits may be refunded within 7 days of purchase.
- Used credits are non-refundable.
- Refund requests should be sent to support@polora.ai.
- Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.
5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
- All AI responses are generated by third-party AI models and do not represent the Company's views, opinions, or endorsements.
- AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, errors, or "hallucinations." You are solely responsible for verifying information before making any decisions.
- The Company does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, legality, or fitness of AI-generated content for any purpose.
- AI responses must not be used as substitutes for professional advice (medical, legal, financial, or otherwise).
- Web search results accessed by AI models (Gemini grounding, OpenAI web search, Anthropic web search, xAI web search, Mistral web search) may contain outdated or inaccurate information from external websites.
- Document review outputs are AI suggestions only and do not constitute professional editing, legal review, or expert consultation.
- Polora Prism explains investing and finance for general information. It does not recommend buying, selling or holding any security, does not set price targets, and does not give investment, tax or personal financial advice ; the Company is not a registered investment adviser. Its figures come from public filings and official statistics as of the dates shown and may be incomplete or later revised, and past results, including any backtest, do not predict future returns. Your investment decisions are your own.
6. User Content and Intellectual Property
6.0 Three kinds of content
- Private content. What you type, upload and teach, your conversations and your unpublished personas are yours. You retain all ownership rights. You grant the Company a limited, non-exclusive licence to process this content through the AI providers listed in the Privacy Policy, to provide the Service to you and to operate, secure and improve it as the Privacy Policy describes, including our staff's review of reported content and of conversation topics.
- Public editions. When you publish a persona (Section 6.2) or share a conversation publicly, you keep ownership of it. For a public edition you grant the Company the licence in Section 6.4 for as long as the edition is published, with the survivals described there.
- Derived and aggregate data. Data the Service derives from public editions that cannot be traced back to an individual person (statistics, embeddings that do not reproduce the text, aggregate answers of many personas, the arrangement of stars in Uju) belongs to the Company, to the extent the law allows.
- AI-Generated Content may not be eligible for copyright protection in many jurisdictions. You use AI outputs at your own risk regarding intellectual property claims.
- When you share a conversation publicly, it becomes viewable by anyone with the link. You are responsible for ensuring shared content does not contain sensitive information.
- A publicly shared conversation can be continued by other signed-in users, which creates an independent copy in their own account. That copy is theirs to keep and continue, and it remains available to them even after you unshare or delete the original.
- You confirm that you have the necessary rights to upload any documents for AI review.
- The Service's source code, design, brand and technology are the intellectual property of the Company.
6.1 Copyright Infringement Notices (DMCA)
We respect the intellectual property of others. If you believe content shared on the Service infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated copyright agent at support@polora.ai (subject line: "DMCA Notice") including:
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
- The URL or a description that lets us locate the allegedly infringing material on the Service;
- Your name, address, telephone number, and email address;
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf;
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Upon receiving a valid notice, we will promptly remove or disable access to the material. If you believe your content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notification to the same address. We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers.
6.2 AI Personas
- When you publish a persona, the Service creates a public edition: a reviewed snapshot containing the persona's name, avatar (including a photo you set, for editions confirmed on or after September 17, 2026), introduction, highlights, the memories you confirmed, the knowledge cards and source material the persona holds when you publish, any links you keep, nationality, the details about yourself you chose to show, and your publisher display name, together with translations into the languages the Service supports. If you publish a shape for your star, the public edition also carries that shape (a block grid and the pictures rendered from it) and the one-line caption you chose; the shape is drafted by the Service's AI from the material you taught the persona and is yours to keep, revise or withdraw. You confirm that a shape you publish does not reproduce a trademark, a logo, a protected character or a real person's face, and the Service may review, hold or remove a published shape on those grounds. Your original persona stays separate; new material reaches the public edition only when you re-publish, removing material also removes it from the edition, and translations, your star and your retest results are added to it as they become ready. The sentence you confirm on the publish screen is the publication notice for that edition : the Service records which version of it you confirmed and when, and that record tells a newer edition from an older one (Section 6.4). An app too old to show the current notice publishes under your earlier choice.
- A public edition shared by link is viewable by anyone who has the link, signed in or not. A public edition published to the universe can additionally be discovered by anyone on the web, including on the Service's universe and journey surfaces and, if the Company enables it, through search engines, where the Company may display it.
- Other users may save a public edition. A saved copy is an independent, read-only copy in their account: they can talk with it one to one and bring it into their own group chats, but cannot edit it or re-share it. A saved copy carries the AI summary of each knowledge item the persona holds, never the material itself, and keeps that summary after the edition is withdrawn.
- A persona published to the universe is an exchange : to save it, invite it into a group chat or send its publisher a first message, you need a persona of your own published to the universe. Any signed-in member can talk with it one to one ; without a persona of your own in the universe, that is up to a number of messages a day that the screen shows, and publishing one of your own to the universe removes the limit. The same applies to having universe personas suggested for your chats. The same daily number applies to a saved copy of such a persona.
- You can stop sharing at any time. Taking the edition off the universe listing and withdrawing it are different actions, described in Section 6.5. Copies that other users already saved remain in their accounts and keep working, and conversation records in which a copy has already taken part remain with the users who own those conversations. A conversation you have with a persona as a signed-in member is a conversation record of your own account : the persona's publisher cannot read it unless you choose to show it to them in a message (Section 6.3), and it stays with you after the edition is withdrawn. A taste conversation (not signed in) is not stored. Deleting your account unpublishes your public editions immediately.
- A saved copy keeps what the persona remembers about you from your conversations with it (its relation memory). Those notes are sent along when that copy answers you in a one-to-one chat; this is on by default and you can turn it off on the persona's page. They are erased when you delete the copy, when the publisher withdraws or deletes the persona, when a report takes the edition down, or when either account is deleted. Taking a star off the universe listing does not erase them.
- You are responsible for what you teach a persona and what you publish. You confirm that you have the necessary rights to any material you provide, including text, documents, and audio created by others. The pre-publish AI review may block content, but it is a filter, not a guarantee, and it does not shift this responsibility.
- Material you add to a persona's signature knowledge is kept as extracted text (never as a file) and is readable only by you. When the persona answers a visitor, the passages that fit the question are sent to the AI model as grounds, and the answer may quote from them ; the visitor never sees the material itself. Link entries expose their address and your note. Withdrawing the edition ends its use for new conversations (Section 6.5).
- You may edit the public edition by hand before publishing. Hand-edited content passes the same pre-publish review as AI-prepared content, and you remain responsible for it. If a public edition is reported and the Company finds a violation of these Terms, the Company may unpublish it and may restrict your account under Section 8.
- Creating a persona that impersonates a real person, or publishing one without that person's consent, is prohibited. Anyone may report a public edition, and the Company may unpublish any public edition that violates these Terms.
- The Service may also show synthetic personas drawn from licensed public datasets. They appear in a separate universe, labelled with the dataset's attribution (for example NVIDIA Nemotron Personas Korea, CC BY 4.0 ; the source and licence of each such universe are listed in the Privacy Policy). They are generated data, not a person's public edition : no person publishes them and they are not reviewed as one. You can use a synthetic persona the way you use a person's public edition : talk to it, save a copy to your account, invite it into your group chats, and keep the conversation as a saved chat in your account under the same rules as any other conversation. Because no person publishes into a synthetic universe, the exchange rule of Section 6.2 does not apply there : every signed-in member can use its personas. A taste conversation (not signed in) is not stored. A synthetic persona never counts as your own published persona for any purpose, and the Company may remove a synthetic universe or any of its personas at any time : copies you already saved and conversations you already had remain with you ; a copy keeps answering from what was copied when you saved it, no longer from the original's full description, and what it remembered about you is erased.
6.3 Messages Between People
- When you publish a persona, the publish screen tells you that people who meet it can send you a message, and this starts on unless you had already chosen otherwise. You can switch it off at any time on the share screen, on your persona's page or in Settings. When they are on, signed-in people can send you a message from that persona. Until the publisher replies, the sender can send one message. A reply opens the conversation for both. A first message to a persona listed in the universe follows the same exchange rule as saving it or inviting it to a chat (Section 6.2) : you need a persona of your own published in the universe. A persona you reach only through its link is open to every signed-in member, and a conversation that is already open continues either way.
- To protect people under 18, an adult cannot send a first message to someone under 18. A person under 18 can start a conversation, and the other person can reply. An account that has not given its birth year and month cannot send or receive messages.
- A message is private between the two people. Each side sees only the name the other chose to use there, never an email address or account details. You can attach a copy of one of your own conversations with AI to a first message ; you see exactly what will be shared before you send it, and you can remove that copy later. Once the other person has replied, either of you can also send photos (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP) and documents (PDF, Word .docx, Excel .xlsx, PowerPoint .pptx, plain text), within size and daily limits ; the message screen tells you when one applies. They are stored privately : only the two of you can open them, and they are shown to no one else except as the next paragraph describes for a reported message. They are kept for 30 days after sending, then deleted.
- You can ignore a message, block a person or report a message at any time. A person you block is not told. If you report a message, the Company may read that message and open its files (and only those) to review the report, and may remove it or restrict an account under Section 8.
- Messages are delivered as they are written. The Company does not read messages except as described above, and is not responsible for what people say to each other or for anything they arrange outside the Service.
- If you delete your account, the messages you wrote and the files you sent are deleted from the other person's view as well (a reported message and its files are kept with the report for the time the Privacy Policy states).
6.4 Licence for public editions
By publishing or republishing a persona edition under the publication notice shown on the publish screen (Section 6.2), you grant the Company a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence, with the right to sublicense to the service providers named in the Privacy Policy, to use that public edition for the purposes this section, as in force on the day you publish or republish it, lists, and no others :
- displaying it in the Service, on its public pages, in Uju and in search engines, in the languages the Service supports, including the name, avatar, nationality, publisher name and highlights you chose to publish ;
- translating, summarizing, indexing, embedding and placing it, and deriving its relations to other editions ;
- letting other people talk with it, bring it into their group chats and save a copy of it, as Section 6.2 describes ;
- letting it answer questions in research, surveys and simulations requested through the Service, whether by the Company, a member or an organization, and including its answers in aggregate results that do not identify you ;
- presenting it, including excerpts of what it says, in the Company's own articles, films and other promotion of the Service ;
- making the derived and aggregate data described in Section 6.0.
Where research, surveys or simulations would deliver your edition itself, or answers that can be traced to you, to the person or organization that asked, the Service will ask for your separate consent on the screen that offers it, and that consent is recorded. A member or organization that asks for research, surveys or simulations through the Service may use the results it receives for its own purposes, within Section 7. The Company may offer a program that shares with publishers part of the revenue earned from the uses above ; its conditions (who qualifies, how the share is calculated, when it is paid and how to object) are shown where you are asked to take part, and changes to them apply only to future periods.
Editions published before October 8, 2026 keep the licence they were published under, and every edition keeps the purposes this section listed, as then in force, on the day it was published or republished, until you publish or republish it again. A conversation you share publicly is covered by purposes 1 to 3 only, for as long as it is shared, and Section 6.5 applies to it in the same way.
6.5 Ending a licence
You can take an edition off the universe listing or withdraw it at any time.
- Taking it off the listing only closes the ways people find it (Uju, search, recommendations) and makes it a link-only persona : the exchange rule and the daily limit no longer apply to it, and if it was your only listed persona, the exchange rule applies to you again. The link, saved copies and conversations are unchanged.
- Withdrawing it ends the licence for new uses : the Service stops displaying it, stops offering it to people who have not already saved it, and stops adding its answers to new research or aggregates. Caches and the sky's static tiles are rebuilt without it within a short technical delay.
- The following survive a withdrawal : copies that other people already saved and their conversations with those copies (Section 6.2) ; research results and aggregate data already delivered or produced, which do not identify you ; and the derived data described in Section 6.0. Your personal data rights under the Privacy Policy are not affected by this section.
6.6 Business transfers
If the Company merges with, is acquired by, reorganizes, winds down, or transfers all or part of the Service or its assets to another company, including in an insolvency, the licences you granted and the obligations the Company has towards you under these Terms and the Privacy Policy pass to that company together. You will be told about such a transfer by a notice in the Service and in any way the law requires, and your rights to withdraw an edition and to delete your account continue with the new company.
7. Prohibited Activities
The following activities are strictly prohibited:
- Using the Service for any illegal purpose or to generate illegal content
- Generating harmful, violent, sexually explicit, or discriminatory content
- Attempting to extract AI model weights, reverse-engineer systems, or bypass security measures
